Kingdom of Callaway - Fulton, Mo 65251 | I have been picking corn and grinding some, but I got to the point where the creep feeders are full, the wagons are full, even the cows are full. So I better make some storage.
I asked on here twice about how wide to make it - does airflow matter? No one would stick their opinion out, so we just started driving posts! It ended up being 16 feet wide and 36 feet long.
A guy I know runs a fence business and gave me a bunch of rolls of used six ft tall chain link wire. We drove the posts in a rectangle with the opening on the end by the gravel lane. We'll see mud before next spring so better keep it close. Its not perfectly square but is as close as a 14yr old boy can get it. We used concrete blocks for the doorway so we can move them easily when we need corn out.
I dug a trench by it and made sort of a dump pit where I could pull the wagons alongside and dump into a snow bucket on the skidloader. It worked great. I think I will deepen it and build a larger bucket to hold more corn. It took 6 dumps to empty a wagon, but it went pretty fast.
I don't know yet what it will hold, but I dumped three wagon loads at 120 bushels each in it so far. I hope it will hold 1500 bushels.
I think my rubber fingers on the husking bed of the picker are dry rotted!
