Columbia City, Indiana | I always read your posts about MIG, etc and it sounds great but for me I have to move the cows to keep up with the new growth in the spring so it doesn't get too tall/rank. My main concern with getting too tall is causing eye irritation which can contribute to a pinkeye outbreak which I had once a few years ago, it was a nightmare and I hope to never have it again. So would it be better to do some mowing in the spring and move them less frequently? I have about 25 cows and I rotate them among 4 pastures, some of which I divide with a hotwire to make multiple paddocks. Or would it be better to move them daily, which would result in leaving quite a bit behind and only eating the best stuff out of each paddock, but would probably leave a lot more feed for the 3rd or 4th trip through? | |
