Schlegel Farms, Hagerstown Indiana | I can't tell you how far back it goes (I was born in 1951) but kids around Hagerstown Indiana all had a "Slinky Like Toy" as far back as I can remember in my youth.
They were the spiral shavings from the Perfect Circle company when the piston rings were made. People just brought the cast off shavings home and kids walked them down the stairs. |

Northeast Kentucky | I had one! Dad worked for International Harvester and took a tour of the Perfect Circle plant in Indiana. Brought back the slinky that was better than any store-bought one. I was about 7 and kept the thing for years. Man it could really get tangled up. |

SW Saskatchewan | Started off on a Mormon evangelical ad from Nigeria and closed off before it went to anything else.

North of London | The important piece of the story here is that someone recognized the good that could come from the 'mistake'
Have heard that Post-It notes glue was a mistake in chemistry to make glue and someone at 3M realized it could have a useful purpose.
I am sure I missed out on cashing in many times.
Have made lots of mistakes. |

Martinsville, Ohio | I have one accidental finding by leaving radish seed in the drill and planting wheat with it. It actually increased the wheat yield and did every time I duplicated the accident.
I was the first around here to build adjustable wheelie bars for pulling tractors in 1971 when the tractor got caught on the trailer I was trying to load with my new welded up wheelie bars.
I enjoyed those, those were much more important!
