Subject: Finished small auger today

Agent Orange: Friendly fire that keeps on burning.

Started on this little transfer auger back in July. between one project and crisis or another, it seems that it took a long time, but I finished it today.

The auger is a 6 inch tube made from various scraps I had left over from other projects. That hydraulic brake really comes in handy for this kind of stuff. New larger lathe was also indispensible for turning drive and bearing components.

Here is a shot of the tube welded to the hopper:

Partially assembled

And now a side view of the completed auger. Motor is a 2 HP left over from the VFD conversion on my mill. Tried some of the much hyped power-twist belt for the drive as I didn't want to chase down the proper length belt.

and finally a partial frontal view. Talked my BIL out of a chunk of baler belting for the skirt. Tires/wheels are $5 specials from HF.
