Sumner County Kansas "The Wheat Capital"

Had 1.2 inches rain so took time to post some pics from my phone. Yields are above average in our area 50-65+ bpa and very good test weights 62-65 lbs per bu.

I finished cutting Thursday night. Yields were OK but great considering the drought the last two years. Test weights were amazing, some as high as 64.5. I have only cut once in May before and that was when I started on the 31st. I bet this year will be the only time I have finished before June. I am west of you in Clark county.

Good yields and standing wheat really are a pleasure to cut, aren't they? I'm about half done and finding yields at around 50. Will try to get going again this afternoon.

yields suck here. We shoot for 90-100 bu. Some years in the past we could get over 100 averages. We got a lot of money tied up in it and it is averaging around 50 on our best looking fields. We are expecting 30bu on most of it. Most of this is due to drought. Grains are small and shrivled looking. Also their is big stretches out in the fields of blackish looking wheat. Other guys are saying they are seeing the same thing.
