North Dakota | Have a proto 1/2" torque wrench that adjusts to 250 ft/lbs but need to torque alot of wheel lug bolts and nuts that are 500-600 ft/lbs. A good quality 3/4" torque wrench in this range is going to run $600-$700. Also hard to get that size of wrench to work when inside tractors with duals and triples. Have been looking a torque multipliers with 1/2" input and 3/4" output and 3.3-1 or 3.6-1 ratio that when used with my current torque wrench should put me in the right range. Never used one before. What is a good quality maker and what kind of attachments if any would I need? Will the ones with a straight bar work for my needs or do I need one with an offset to rest against adjacent lug bolts? Where is the best place to buy as I have looked locally and can't find a thing?

NC Iowa | Ill second snap on, I don't buy many of their high priced tools, but this is one that I would. It will last a lifetime with occasional use. In my last job we had one that lasted over 5 years being used on 30+ nuts a day. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=63489... Edit- I wouldn't use the one that rests against other nuts. Only thing you will need other then the multiplier is multiple extensions as it won't go "inside" the rim, could get pretty long using on some applications. The link I listed just uses an offset bar that rests on the ground, it's pretty easy to handle once you get used to it. If you always use the same impact, you get to know when to stop tightening, and then tighten with the torque wrench only a 1/4 to 1/2 turn to finish, goes much faster. I've got 2 snap on torque multipliers that I found on EBay. $125-150 price range. 1/2-3/4" & 3/4-1". There is about a 10% loss in the gearing if I remember correctly. So 500 ft lbs should require 135-140 ft lbs torque wrench setting assuming the torque multiplier is 4 to 1 reduction. DO NOT use an impact wrench through the multiplier! Alberta, Canada | I was in the same boat I have good quality 3/8" and 1/2" torque wrenches but no big one as I don't have much use for one. I bought multiplier on sale for like $75. Its 1/2" input and 3/4" output to torque some bigger lug nuts with my 1/2" drive Snap On torque wrench. I guess if one used it daily you'd want a brand name but this one for a few times a year seems ok and works fine.

ECMN | I don't know if it accepts a torque wrench but the one on the video looks pretty slick. Some other suggestions on this old post as well. http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=287353&posts=4...

Southern Iowa | I bought one just like this that I'm happy with it. Simple to use with 12x torque advantage....if you want 200 ft lb you torque to 200 in lb. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Torque-Multiplier-16-to-1-1-2-input-1-outpu...
