Subject: John Deere 425 Lawn Tractor engine replacement

The cam stripped on my JD 425 (Kawasaki engine FD620D) and I am interested in replacing the engine with a replacement engine from the internet. There are many companies advertising a replacement engne (Kawasaki FD620 D ) however in fine print there is a disclaimer stating this is not a John Deere part nor a direct replacement for this lawn tractor. Has anyone replaced their Kawasaki FD620D engine with one of these internet kawasaki FD620 D engines and if so can you give me a heads up on what it takes i.e. do you need to use many parts from your existing engine, radiator, muffler, wiring harness, flywheel, starter, fan blade, motor mounts, is it a relatively painless exchange and maybe where you purchased your replacement engine?

Thanks
Robb Swearingen
