I have been trying to find some data on soil temperatures in fall strip-till for some time now. Come to find out i did a test in 2004. Had forgot that i had checked the temperatures in that situation. My brother took a old mounted corn planter and added some row cleaners to do the strips in the fall of 2003. It was in rye or spring wheat stubble, can`t recall. Just for comparison i added data from a field that was conventionally tilled that was about six miles away. By using the min max soil temps to calculate the corn gdd`s and starting on 4/26 the corn in the fall strip would have emerged on 5/9, the residue covered soil would emerged on 5/21 and the conventionally tilled on 5/16. Below are some charts that show the max temps.
