Subject: Water Hydrant Location

I am running some water lines here before it freezes out to my barn. My question is would you guys put a hydrant inside the barn or just outside the barn. I thought inside might be better to keep it out of the wind. But then I wondered about the draining of the hydrant if it would rot the posts off faster or cause other problems if inside. My barn lays east to west. If you put it outside would you put it on the east or west end of the barn? The west end would allow the sun to hit it every afternoon while the east side may or may not get much sun. I know I have left the hose laying on the east side before and it does not thaw out in the winter. As always, your advice will be greatly appreciated.
