Eastern Iowa | I'm playing around with a Raven Slingshot but don't have any documentation. Specifically I'm looking for information regarding how to specify IP, port, username, and password to log into an NTRIP caster in order to receive RTK corrections. I've logged into the Slingshot using the BlueVue device manager software but am not seeing anything related to NTRIP login credentials.

Brandon, SD | Your dealer should have configured for you.

NE Iowa | Slingshots do not use NTRIP. Raven receives the data from the IaRTN in the background then the data is sent to your field hub differently than NTRIP. Basically the data being sent to your Slingshot is compressed and requires a much smaller amount of bandwith to get the data to you. I've had a fair amount of expereince with both the Slingshots and Intuicoms. If cell coverage is any question definately go with a Slingshot. Raven does charge a subscription fee to run the modem on a CORS network which is why your dealer has to set it up. Bluevue is primarily used to activate the cell modem and make some other advanced changes if needed. Edited by TS79 8/10/2011 19:11

Eastern Iowa | Can the slingshot be configured similar to an Intuicom which has multiple profiles? For example, if you are getting RTK from the Iowa RTN (though Raven's server) and either Raven's server or the RTN goes down, wouldn't it be beneficial to just select another RTK source to log into and your up and running again with minimal down time?

NE Iowa | No, the Slingshot is automatically going to connect to your nearest base satation, if that base station goes down then it will pick up the next closest and continue. If the whole RTN goes down then your SOL unless you have access to a private network such as MyWayRTK or a Raven basestation (which you would likely be paying to access and would probably log into it before the IaRTN). Now if you were running on a private network and it went down then you wanted to switch to the IaRTN your dealer could make that switch for you from a computer. I could see the concern if there was a problem on Raven's end of things but with the amount of backup technology they have in place the likilyhood of that happening is slim to none.

BigFarmerDave, TS79 said it correct, within the Slingshot network everything runs in the background to take the hassle off the user. This allows you not to have to worry about any credentials, IP's or ports. All you need to do is plug in the Field Hub and Slingshot will connect to the network for you. As others have said, contacting your dealer is the best way to get this started. Going through Bluevue or other routes won't help to get corrections to the Field Hub, Slingshot will set it up for you within their network.
