I noticed today that my 4440 with 10,065 HRS. was dripping a little oil out of the blow by. What do I need to expect? I was mowing roadsides, and some of it was at a pretty good slope. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. Had an underhaul on it about 500HRS ago. Other than that I don't think the engine has ever been opend up. Thanks

southern Illinois
If its not using much oil I wouldnt worry about it. Everything I own has some blow by but never seen a problem.

NW Iowa
I'd agree with commisioner and would monitor the oil usage, ours has 16K on it with out an oh, has some blowby, but uses very little if any oil on a 100 hour change interval!! good luck

Unless it's using large amounts of oil, starting hard, or becoming unreliable I wouldn't worry. If I am remembering correctly the 4440s had an air pump to push fresh air through the crankcase like they used on the new generation tractors. I wouldn't be worried about the oil coming out of the tube, that happens on occasion just from the amount of blow by and how much oil gets splashed toward the baffle, etc.
