East Central Iowa | Can anyone indicate the likely vintage of this welder. It is a 20TH Century Welder model #40, SN 606897, rated up to 180 Amps. It still works great on both ranges and across the entire adjustment range.
Figured out the high, low, and ground. How is the cutting ground terminal used?
Thank you!

just a tish NE of central ND | My guess is later 50's maybe later. It reminds me of the one dad had that he got in 1948, but this is more refined and he dial reads all the way around (almost). I think the styles of those didn't change much for years and years at a time.
It probably works as good as a new one. Made with REAL COPPER!! LOL! |

thumb of michigan | Mom bought the same thing except it is blue for Dad for their first anniversary in 1966. The cutting ground bypasses the amp controller and is full through if I recall right. Dad only used it a couple times as it smoked the shop up terrible when cutting. We still use it from time to time to weld cast iron etc. |
