Subject: gs2 mapping on/off

NE Saskatchewan
Just finished putting an old bourgault 3165 tow between aircart in front of our phillips rotary harrow (with newly installed air kit) to finish seeding. Way to wet to get our air drill in the fields, it just acts like a boat anchor. Wanting to know how to get our GS2 to record when the drive clutch is engaged on the air cart to keep track of area and fill in the map coverage. I also need too know how to get the old brown box to do the same thing, just in case we can get our drill unit back in the field as well. Also if possible to get the swath control to run the drive clutch on the air cart.

We are located in Northeast Saskatchewan. The soil we farm is a heavy black clay based soil, which in turn holds water quite well. Good for drought years, but bad on wet springs like we are experiencing at the moment.

You can use the ol' standby manual push the on/off record button or have it record when a scv is moved. I assume you are using a greenstar ready tractor.

Depending on the Greenstar Ready harness you are using (Universal, Field Fit or Factory) will determine where you will find the implement switch wire, either out the back near the ISO coupler or behind dash panels. What you are looking for is a 2 pin plug with a white and brown wire, the white wire will have the number 209 stamped on it. To turn recording on and off you will need to supply an earth signal to this wire (209), then you can set recording via the implement switch option on both screens. Recording can be set to turn on when earth is either supplied (normally open) OR taken away (normally closed). If your clutch switches power you will need to fit a relay to switch earth.

BUT as grgsrvc said if you are using a JD tractor that is Greenstar Ready you can turn recording on/off via scv.

The two tractors that I might run it off are none JD tractors and will both be using an ATU 200 to steer. So I need to find a 2 pin plug with a white brown wire (#209) and supply a ground some how that is switched to turn on/off. Thanks.

The plug you're looking for will have 2 wires one white, one brown, Good Luck.

And the white wire has 209 written on it. If you can't find it at the rear of the tractor look where the cab harness (front half) and the imp harness (back half) connect together, I am guessing it is stuffed under the seat in your tractor cab.

Central To Everything and Close to Nothing
On your Bourgault I'm assuming that you have a master clutch switch in the cab, probably a Vansco branded one. Take the housing apart on the switch box and locate the switched power wire and tap a lead onto it. Then get yourself a 12v automotive relay and hook it up to that switched wire and to the 209 on the GS harness and you are good to go. Do a search on here about GS2 and relays if you need more of an explanation. You will need to change your recording source on the GS2 to one of the switched states.

The harness I have is an the universal one, so it doesn't have a 2 wire brown/white plug. It does have a 3 wire plug with a blue/brown/white set of wires. So could I assume that the white wire on that plug should be the 209 wire that needs to be grounded? Thanks for the replies.

ok maybe mine isn't called a universal wiring harness, it looks quite a bit different than the one showing. It's the one that comes in the box with the atu 200 that I purchased.

That sounds like the ATU Harness which plugs into the Greenstar harness at the CAN connectors indicated in the picture.

My harness definitely looks different than the one you have posted. It has the following plugs; receiver, 2 display connectors (black and grey that plug into brown box), switched 12v power connector, atu steering wheel plug, resume button plug, seat plug and the plug that I'm not sure about (blue/white/brown wire). All plugs are round and threaded. I've seen the harness that you've shown it's in my 4720 sprayer. The one that I'm using is in both of my Case tractors.

Does the ATU harness have the following connectors:
4 pin (1 male & 1 female) deutsch (rectangular)
2 pin (1 male & 1 female) deutsch (rectangular)

If the harness you have does not have these connectors OR connects to the Greenstar harness via a Y harness at the display connectors, then I suspect the harness you have may be a mobile harness which does not have an implement wire or CAN connectors.

I believe its a mobile harness, because there is no CAN connector on it. I'll have to get my hands on a different harness. Thanks for all the help GSService.

i was hoping that i could talk with you & thank you for sharing that wireing you posted about the 209 wire ans mapping on the jd screen. i use it all summer on a lot of my low tech stuff THANKS I have another question concerning this tricking the mapping . I'm using Climate field view and that uses the greenstar gps to find location in the field but i can't get it to map when the 2600 maps. I need to touch the screen each time & well you know how well that works.

Central To Everything and Close to Nothing
You can use the mobile harness because if you have the adapter that converts the brown box plugs to the GS2, the adapter harness has the 209 wire in it. If you peel the looming back you will find a 209 wire. It might be read 209A or B or whatever but it's the same wire. Just use an inline wire tap and a wire that you connect to your relay and you are good to go. If you move this harness between vehicles, you might want to add an additional connector so you and separate the mobile harness from the relay wiring easily.
