Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | We decided to upgrade our 15 ft 750 drill boxes to the match the improved design of the 1560--1590.
The 15 ft 750 drill box has a big plate at each end to lessen corner cracking, but it puts the fill opening about 15 inches from the end of the flat top box and really only moves the cracking problem inboard 15 inches .
This design made a box that would leak the slightest bit of rain into the seed / fertilizer to foul it and made for a lot of pushing to try to get the ends of the boxes full of product during filling.
We decided to cut away this poor design and build new box tops and lids , much like the later 1560-90 design.
This has been an on again, off again project for the last two months.
Except for adding the lid latches salvaged from the 750 lids, it is about finished and ready for next weeks start at planting the crop.
