I received a tote with an odd fitting. It is male with really corse threads. It is similiar threads to the the bung on a 30 gallon drum. (not the pipe bung but the other side) Can an;yone help identify this style, and where can I find a fitting for it? I need to go to 2" quick couple male. TIA

Brazilton KS | It is a buttress fitting. The threads on the valve are the same as the ones on the tank. If you have an empty tote which you can hook up to, you can just unscrew the valve off of the empty tote and it will screw onto the output threads on the valve you are asking about. Thanks to another Agtalker for telling me that last year!!

Looking past the threads, does it have the receiver groove for a 2 inch female Banjo coupling?

Brazilton KS | I've seen that on a lot of pipe thread valves, but I have never seen a buttress with that setup.

Like Plowboy I have seen that with pipe threads. I did check that already, but no luck. I will try a valve from another tote if I cannot find an adapter to pipe. Thanks for the help.

I had one on a bulk oil tote that drove me nuts, until I spoted the Banjo part. The Buttress thing is new to me, got any pics.

I think this is the adapter I need. 2" buttress male x 2" pipe female. Look at KB338 about 3/4 down the page. http://kowabunga.biz/drumadaptersplugssafetyseals.html

This is the valve he has, or similar to it. The male side is the same threads as the female side which screws onto the tank bladder.
Many IBC have this valve insead...it screws onto the same fitting on the bladder of the IBC, but has NP on the other side. I almost typed NPT, but I would not be surprised if it is actually NPS since the cap has a gasket. For our purposes either will work. Edited by plowboy 4/3/2010 23:36

Havent run into that one yet. Thanx for the pics

Brazilton KS | I think the bottom one is probably actually BSP on the male side. Again, for our purposes they are interchangeable at low pressures. Here is an adapter to fit on the buttress thread and go to BSP...but just screwing the valve off of an empty IBC is a lot cheaper.

I think this is the cure. http://www.actionsealtite.com/Products/IBC-Fittings/Adaptors-and-Co...

Brazilton KS | I think you need the buttress to be female and the pipe to be male.

Brazilton KS | I am not sure without reading more....but I think you need 50mm buttress, not 60mm.
Anyway, I know the valve from another IBC which has pipe threads will work.
edit: I'm now almost certain you need 50mm.
I searched all over for them last year, and the only options available in the US were grossly overpriced....empty IBCs are pretty close to worthless, so I just stole a valve out of one. Edited by plowboy 4/3/2010 23:50

West Texas | Must have gotten a tote from UAP or CPS? I had a lot of trouble with their tote fittings until I got them to give me some adapters for them.

Eastern Ontario | Thank you for posting the question. I was going to post the exact same thing tonight. What a coincidence. I think I will rob a valve off another IBC and see if it works.

Brazilton KS | I searched. Credit properly belongs to Jay NE Ohio for that one. That's where I learned it.

Your fitting is a buttress adapter. You can purchase them at spacekraft.com A few other sites make them as well. Don't pay more than 10.00

Texas/New Mexico Stateline | If it was me I would probably scrounge up a piece of soft 2" rubber hose, a couple hose clamps, and a pipe nipple and make a cobbled up mess that would leak everywhere. Didn't somebody on here do something similar with a Mt. Dew jug for spray water.................... Edited by milofarmer1 7/9/2010 14:06

South Georgia | Yeah, I remember the Mt. Dew / tape thing. Wasn't that Rich? Speaking of which, I haven't seen him around lately, have I? Adrian
