Scottville, 49454 Northwest Michigan

That's nearly 16 inches.

Not likely we would have anything worth harvesting on our farm if we got that much rain in 96 hours.

When cutting in water best to lock up the draper wings so they do not scoop water. Just a helpful hint.

Looks like they are doing that in the video or they have rigid drapers.

Depends on the stage I’m sure but full grown corn can take a lot, as long as the ear isn’t submerged. Couple years ago we had 9-11” in about 6 hours on Aug 1. Didn’t do a lot of damage except the water paths.

I have watched large areas of fields fall flat in late July in 2003 from massive flooding. If the base is covered for more then a few days and heat speeding up the process the plant just dies and falls over. All the river ground in 2003 was gone but the shocking thing when the combines in the area hit the field was how many spots in the field had fallen over. It was 21 inches in about that many days starting around July 10, corn was just tasseling .

I thought in the US you could not sell beans that were flooded because of contamination is that right? And if it is right how can they export them?

16" of rain in 4 days? That's nuts. I got a total of less than 6" in all of 2023 and currently have a total of .2" for 2024...

The story will be they don’t even need boats; just flood the beans right out of the fields, thus lowering shipping costs. Once again the American farmer is overpriced and can’t compete.

Good pic but I'm not convinced it will m work for any length of time.
Water inside the machine and on sieves doesn't work.

The rest of the story may be the heat and dryness to the north of the flooding zone where the safrinha corn crop is raised.

Was planting behind schedule? At least looking at CPC precip anomaly data rainfall over the past month has been pretty typical on the whole for the more northern areas, wouldn't think there would be significant issues unless you had late planted crops.

Could be, but we had to do similar things after those back to back ND October snowstorms a couple falls ango after the snow melted . Drove thru potholes with the flex heads skimming over the top of the water cutting soybeans.

I think it is just if it is flooded by river water or maybe even a lake, but I could be wrong!

I remember that, every stream creek and ditch was going wild the next day. That was a top 3 all time flood level for us.

The Crop should mostly be harvested in that area.
That area does get frost in the winter so they do not have a 12 month growing season there.
