deep in the southeastern corner of Idaho | same reason that sometimes the highest performing bull doesn't always top a bull sale.

Central Coast, California | I didn't watch the preview or sale but there can be multiple reasons. 1. Just because the dog scored the best in the trial doesn't mean it's the most desirable. A good trial dog is great in the show but how well will it work outside when **** is going down and your not able to give it commands every 30 seconds. Also a big strong dog can be good but a reckless dog can be prone to getting hurt. Also age and breeding potential are factors that aren't necessarily scored in. 2. This sale can be a little political. Can't they all. 3. Could be a straw sale to build reputation. This sale does not allow consignors to set a reserve so most of them will prearrange a minimum price with a friend who will bid it up. Sometimes people decide to make a splash arrange a very high price and then kickback a big chunk of money. 4. Alcohol.

Southeast Colorado | I'd give 5 grand for a good cow dog. At least I would if I could trial run him/her.

You wanna trial run or you want a stock dog? The best dog maker on the west coast ain’t in the red bluff sale but noticed his male dog sired some. IYKYK

Southeast Colorado | I've learned I can't train. I need a turn key pup. I blew it with my last good dog.

Central Coast, California | The folks that had the number 3 dog in the sale sell some finished dogs at times. Look up DSW Cowdogs. They are nice people who I know well. I'm guessing the guy Macttle is referring to is Brian Jacobs, I think he goes by Golden State Cowdogs or something like that. He seems to be a bigger trader I've seen a few nice dogs of his go reasonably priced.
