NE IL | Like me I'm sure there are a lot of lurkers on Market Talk that try to use the page for some direction/advice on selling their crop. I'm sure like most I can get lost in the back and forth and frankly info that goes over my head!
Lots of top 5% farmers/marketers on here so wanted to field the question-What is the one best piece of marketing advice or direction you would give a young or simply inexperienced farmer at marketing their crop?
Mine would be know your cost of production/bu as close as you can through the year. Revisit it every month to keep it accurate with changing inputs/yield expectations. Its hard to sell anything when there is a big drop but knowing it has given me comfort in making sale increments even if the market is dropping knowing I'm still making a profit. | |
