Subject: CaseIH Magnum 340 transmission temperature

North Central Kansas
Apparently some engineers decided that in order for the hydraulic system to work on these magnums that they needed to install a thermostat in the system. This will be the second time in three years that mine has failed. When it fails you will get the high temp warning and it will shut the tractor off. It may go back to working after it acts up or it may not. Both times this has occurred it was late at night when outside temperatures were cool. Engine was running 180 degrees. I asked the tech if they could just remove the thermostat. He said CaseIH does not advise that. It is tucked up along the side behind the tire.
