Subject: Cold weather tricks to help get through

Culbertson, MT
A couple tricks from my place to yours with this wide-spread cold snap. Firstly, I got tired of need “just a bit more” hot water than 2 thermos bottles to thaw fittings/floats/etc so rigged a 1 gallon garden sprayer in a 5 gallon bucket. Wrapped with an old jacket (maybe should foam it in…). Took spray nozzle off and jammed a short piece of rubber tubing over end. Not only allows directed hot water, but I keep several ft of plastic water line in bucket in case I need to “snake” hot water up a line. Pump it up and get the job done quickly!

Second-: years back we had a local issue with JD tractors with the barrel-shaped fuel strainer icing up. I have 3 with this getup, so every fall I wrap them in an old glove to keep the wind off. Looks dopey but it does the trick!

Stay warm….
