Subject: New Plumbing - copper water pipes or Pex piping?

central - east central Minnesota -

Grew up with copper water piping. Now, (I supposed with the price of copper) some plumbers have switched to Pex water pipe. My concerns are pex looks sloppy, as was told it can not be fastened down tightly - as it needs to "breath" (expand and contract) with the water temp? Also, Pex reduces flow. Due to the fittings on the inside of the pipe - if you want 3/4 inch pipe, with a fitting, you may end up with 5/8 or 1/2 flow? If you want 3/4 flow then 1ich line must be used? Other concerns or thoughts on useing pex over copper?

What are your experences with pex - I'd perfer copper, but will be comparing price ( I had to ask for detailed pricing in the bids - contractor didn't really like that idea) . . . .  One contractor willl not use pex - copper only for him/his home building. This is for new home construction. TIA
