Maybe the government will report that corn stocks are higher than a year ago, but the basis is telling a different story. Most ethanol plants are wondering where they are going to get corn in late August and September. In our area most of the farmers who usually hold their corn until late in the marketing year sold it when it hit $7.00. While futures have dropped significantly in the last few days, the cash price here has stayed at around $8.00.
Anybody else thinking it’s time to throw in the towel on a few more bushels?
