To a new location. This used to be done quite a bit 50+ years ago or more. Newfoundland had a lot of remote communities and islands that the population eventually moved and settled in more concentrated areas. So they used to float houses to move them, Hundreds if not 1000s they say were done this way. Not done much anymore, so it's getting a bunch of attention.

Neat ,thanks for the link. For those that have never been to Newfoundland,it is a super vacation if you enjoy remoteness and very friendly people.Where I live in Maine is just the 1/2 way point in Highway miles from Miami Florida to the upper end near St.Johns,,most people say WHAT?,,I dont think that includes the 16 hr ferry ride either.

I don't believe that ferry has started up again since covid, only the one to the west coast has been running, between North Sydney and Port aux Basques. I usually took the night crossing and sleep thru most of it. 6-8 hours if you don't get stuck in an iceflow.

I think it did flood and not sure how it floated at all with the wheels on it. I wonder if the owners are told hey, this is risky and we may lose this house?

My Dad always talked about a guy that claimed he had helped when they floated a house across the Missouri River near here back in the day. Another guy said yup I know its true I was sleeping in the basement when they did it.
