Subject: Firmware fix coming for Starfire ITC and WAAS

I've heard from several reliable sources that John Deere is going to release a firmware update for the old ITC receiver to fix the WAAS issue for those that want to keep using the receiver for mapping purposes. The fact they are doing that means that I and others were wrong about the probable cause of the problem. In all likelihood it was coincidental and likely took them as much by surprise as it did many farmers hoping to continue using the ITC for a while yet. Could have been something as simple as a date overflow in the firmware. I would be curious to know what the problem actually was. This firmware update will be available hopefully later this month.

The ITC remains obsolete and unsupported in any way, and autosteer will still not work with it (though it probably will at WAAS accuracy with the ITC extender or similar). And the ITC will stop functioning entirely in a few years as the GPS satellite systems are changed over to newer frequencies the ITC cannot listen on. But thank you to John Deere engineers for spending time and money on this! Pretty impressive, honestly.
