I would like your reaction to this statement:

I believe that rough economic times create great opportunity for those who position themselves right and are willing to work.

What would you say to that?  Is that correct?  I see some of the great and prosperous businesses in my area that grew during hard times.  Primarily the 30s and 80s.  In good times, they have reaped the rewards.  Is this just happen stance? Were they very successful prior to these times and took the opportunity to grow?  

 Now a more direct question.  For me, and many of like age and many others what would you reccomend if things really do get tough?  How did you position yourself through these times?  Or how would you position yourself if you were to go through them again? Whether that be now, or in hindsight going back to a younger age.
