Subject: Since it’s Valentine’s Day how did you meet your significant other?

Ludington/Manistee MI area

Title pretty much says it all.  Might as well ask how long you been together as well.

My family and my wife’s family went to the same church since we were little kids up until she was early to mid teens( she’s two years older than I am). Didn’t see a thing of her or really think much about her after that.   Fast forward a little over ten years.   Guy I worked with cornered me about the perfect girl he found for me.   After the previous blind date he set me up on their was no way in hell I was going on another.   He described who this was and I’m like I know her and her family already.   Her uncle and I helped my uncle set roof trusses a few months ago and he was a very palpable person to be around.   Mulled it over and eventually reached out to her. When I called the number in the phone book a female answered and I asked if it was Sarah she said no and I thanked her and was about to hang up the person on the other end say wait wait this is her sister if you wait a second she’s here.  As they say the rest is history.   First date was May of 2023 and married September 10th of 2005.  I wanted to get married the following weekend on her birthday to cut down on the days I have to remember but that didn’t fly.

I was 28 about to turn 29 and she was 30 about to turn 31 when we got married getting that later start in life probably helped it last this long because we knew their wasn’t better fish in the sea.  On the other hand now I’m 49 with a 4 and few days short of a 10 year old both adopted kids.

Side note:   The Catholic Church we went together as tikes in and got married in her great great grandfather was the key person behind its existence.   He built it we were around for its closing.  We have a picture of us standing next to a big beach tree that matches a pic of my parents from their wedding standing next to the same tree.
