| Curious to have your thoughts on this. Just heard on the news about a school board member (I assume they are elected in the US?) making some grossly inappropriate comment on a public "space" (Facebook, Twitter). I know there's the freedom of speech and all, and that technically he was speaking as a private citizen. Without going into the details now, he said that a certain minority is ruining the life of the majority, that he appreciates when some in this minority die, and that he would celebrate if more of them died or committed suicide (and in addition he puts a religious perspective in the mix). As an elected official, it is extremely inappropriate to talk like this about a minority group present in the schools of his district. But it appears to me that even as a private citizen, these comments are not acceptable, because he basically encourages hate and bullying... not brilliant for a guy who is supposed to help school district management and shape policies. Your opinion??
