Eastern NC | We have been extrememly dry here all summer long. We are three days from finishing tobacco harvest, about half way on picking cotton and the rain has set in on us this week. It began raining here Saturday night and I dumped the rain guage when I got home tonight for a total of 12 inches. It is raining steady as I type this. I think that sweet potatoes can benefit from this rain but it has been a long slow week that we have been waiting on for a while. I am sure that cotton yields have dropped by at least 100 pounds since Sunday. I was just wondering how this was impacting everyone's harvest. Almost all of the corn here was out of the field in just a few weeks and several guys were getting into early soybeans pretty good last week. I won't have any beans ready for a few weeks. | |
