SW Manitoba. | We are currently all john Deere equipment. We run 3 JD 9870 machines with 635 drapers and 615 pickups. In the past we have always said that green paint was the best. However, we are more and more disappointed with green paint in terms of design (poor feed accelerator design casues plugging and smoked belts), too much technology with alarms and computers and not enough simplicity. On, the other hand, I know Red paint isn't flawless, and they comes with their problems too. We have both a Case and JD dealer close to us and both offer excellent service and parts.
We like the Case for the ability to reverse the rotor, the ease in changing concaves, and we like the Macdon draper headers.
On the deere, we like the JD gps, hands down its probably the best. and we have gottin comfortable with these machines, and they are pretty reliable.
So, not to start a war here, but I want to here from those who run both Case (7120, 8120, or 9120) or John Deere (9670,9770 or 9870). What do you like about each of them, what don't you like, and why would you stick with/buy one or the other.
Keeping in mind cost of ownership (depreciation per hour), reliability, capacity, fuel economy, thrashing job (good or bad sample), comfort, gps capability etc.
