Subject: Freezer beef pricing

Columbia City, Indiana
Where are you pricing for 2026? Seems a lot of the premium is eaten up by crazy cattle prices. I’m taking my smaller calves to the sale barn and hoping two guys really want grass calves. It’s only 7 head. Gonna beef the other 18, which is half as many as I did 5-6 years ago.
I don’t see how the hanging price can be far from 4 bucks, customer pays processing.

Your thoughts?

(And no I’m not looking for a debate from those of you who insist on being price takers and selling beef for sale barn price, this is the one thing I can make the price on (within reason, hence this post) and if I’m going to do it, I’m going to set the price. If you think that’s shady, just scroll on by, I disagree with you. I’m selling beef, you’re selling cattle.
