Subject: Raising oats

Kicking around planting the edge of a field, about 90ft to oats this spring that way I don't run as much down opening up the field to chop corn silage.

Wanting to try and combine them and either use it for calf feed and bale the straw, or if the test weight is heavy enough, sell them.

Always heard our part of the county grew high yielding heavy test weight oats, but that was all probably 20 years before I was born.

Any tips or tricks? Would be going into chisel plowed bean stubble, looking at using Sabre oats and not just bin run ones. West Central Ohio. I know I'll need to try and plant them as early as possible
