Subject: John Deere Boundaries

Waterloo IA
With the way things are moving towards autonomy, John Deere wants autonomous boundaries. They define this as driven with the 7000 series GPS receivers, and had a solid connection the whole time. The stipulation is that you cannot export it to edit, as when you import it back, it will not have autonomous capability. However, if you export a boundary in John Deere's Gen4 / Gen5 format, you end up with a .gjson file. This file format seems to originate here: "https://github.com/tidwall/gjson/blob/master/SYNTAX.md". Therefore, I did not think it was proprietary. I was able to go into the gjson file I exported and modify the coordinates to my pleasing and upload it again as autonomous, which technically bypasses John Deere's restriction, as it tricks the system into thinking it was driven that way instead of created or edited how you wanted it. My question after figuring this out is whether or not doing this would run me into any sort of legal trouble; if not I think it is a great workaround until John Deere adds some serious editor capabilities, as their boundary editor is beyond terrible compared to tools like QGIS, ArcGIS, or even Agleader SMS.
