| and i`ll show you a farmer that wants an opportunity buy & rent more land from the extra pieces of pie from those who have to leave the party early. i`m being devil`s advocate here and it doesn`t really fit in with lugnut`s thread. just my prospective i have small debt, own the land i farm and not looking to buy or expand (i`m a unicorn) . with or without additional farm aid, i`ll be fine....i`m shingling my own house for goodness sake :-)
but let`s polish this diamond of going cold turkey not extending farm aid. what probably 1/3 of current farmers might not survive the next 2, 3 years (not to mention this thing might never get better)? so, you`re farming 4,000 acres now hoping to increase to 6,000 acres with more land on the market? are YOU going to get it or is the 30,000 acre farmer (who i`m convinced is laundering money for the medellin drug cartel) or the guy with a chemical business who farms his 10,000 acres as a sideline?
but some of your neighbors go broke, you`re currently in "good shape" and you go from your 4,000 acres to 6,000 acres (that`s the dream anyway) the 30,000 acre drug money launderer goes to 45,000 acres all this to get bigger for the opportunity to sell $3.80 corn and $9.70 beans? "oh if democrats git in 2028 and they`ll kiss up to china and corn goes to $7 and i`ll stick a fat hog!!!"... maybe, but that takes as much faith as the nuns pouring their bed pan into their car`s gas tank.
i don`t know, it`s one of those things where be careful of what you wish for. | |
