| It has been recently called to my attention that leaders for the local school fundraising project have applied for the $250,000 grant from Pepsi in direct competition with HSUS. The main school building facilty in the city of Faith, SD was condemned and demolished several years ago. Since then students have been attending classes in a series of modular units which are not connected to each other. Every time classes change the student must go out in the weather to a different unit.
IMO, and in that of many other district residents, there was nothing wrong with the old school that could not have been fixed to bring it up to current codes. But what is done is done and Faith is in need a permanent school facility. There is a community fund drive well underway to build a new main school facility. The Pepsi grant would make a significant financial contribution to the overall project.
As the community leaders in Faith have pointed out, there are so many worthwhile and legitimate projects Pepsi could consider funding instead of HSUS. This is one of them. Please consider casting your vote accordingly. If I understand correctly, there is still another month to vote which can be done daily. Thank you for your consideration.
