Subject: ticks

East central Iowa

Alpha-gal syndrome (AGS)—a potentially severe meat allergy triggered by tick bites—is experiencing an explosive rise across the United States.

The staggering ~100-fold (or roughly 10,000%) increase in Alpha-gal syndrome (AGS) positive test results is largely driven by surging Lone Star tick populations expanding out of the southeastern U.S. into the Midwest and Northeast. Larger deer populations, and better medical awareness have accelerated this growth.
Coinciding with the push to replace real meat with cultured meat products, fungi, and vegetables.

Get your deet or Picaridin on and spray your brushy areas, I guess.
