| What is the consensus on how to purchase new bin. Have 140k bu storage now. On an average year will need about 180k bu of storage today. 30 years old. Been picking up about a quarter every couple years. Built grain leg a couple years ago.
First question how big of bin do you build? About 120k bu. Is what I have been thinking. Allows for crop yields to improve slightly. And allows me to comfortably pick up another 4 quarters.
Second question, what size bin do you go with. 48X20 to maximize space around leg. Or should I look at 54 or 60’s and go a little shorter? What is the most economical. Guessing bin, jacking, and concrete will run 300k or a touch less for that?
Third, are there any considerations I’m missing? Locally there are a lot of 60-80yo farmers, I look for a good chunk of consolidation to happen in the next ten years if it matters.
Edit to add leg is 123’ to outlet on distributor.
