Holly Hill, SC | I need something to repair roads and maybe move some dirt. ( I already have a dirt pan and backhoe) These roads can have grass growing one them (plan on killing a month before working), can be dry and hard, or even have roots growing in them. We have had a small 3 point scraper for under 100 hp tractor that has been too light weight and have to get off tractor to make all adjustments. Also it doesn't do well when the front tires of the tractor go up and down in dips in the road. It takes a skilled operator to reduce waves in a road because of these dips.
Is a pull behind scraper much better? Will it act more like a motor grader with the blade between the front and rear tires. If I get a pull behind, should I definitely get one that the rear wheels can steer to the side. I am thinking this allows you to work a groove or ditch to the side and also compensate for blade angle causing the implement to pull to one side. Probably pull it with a JD 8400 or JD 4840. (over 150 hp)
Would like to have a small motor grader but don't really want to deal with more batteries, tires and potentially hydraulic and motor problems.
