nc ks | Thanks to all who have been helping me with the air drier on our 4940. From what I can tell, this will apply to all JD sprayers with an air drier, at least 40 series and older. As another NAT'r has posted, the air drier is a SKF Brakemaster Turbo-3000 and the desiccant filter is a T334. Napa sells them as a CR T334 for $50 cheaper than Deere. Here is a link to info on the Turbo-3000 with a parts list and some troubleshooting info. Starts on page 84.

Ours was not purging out the bottom through the purge valve like it was supposed to. It was constantly trying to purge out the side through a relief valve. We took the purge valve apart and there is a plastic plunger in there that is broken. We are going to try a purge valve kit and a new desiccant filter and see if that fixes it. Went ahead and got the purge valve kit from Deere to speed things up. ($153). Don't know if that can be sourced from Napa or not, but I am sure it can be sourced somewhere for south of fifty bucks probably. Will let you know how it comes out.
Edit: Deere wants over $1300 for the complete drier. Also, don't try to use a filter for the more common turbo-2000, they are totally different internally.
