Subject: Anybody Quit Baling Hay and Just Buy It?

West Central Illinois
Has anybody just got fed up with it and quit baling their own hay and just buy it? Idk, i'm in one of those moods this year. Could be partly to the fact that there's just a massive amount of hay out there for me to put up, it's virtually worth nothing or worth less than it cost me if i wanted to sell it. Sometimes i wonder if I could dedicate more time to better grazing if I quit screwing around with this.

Bit of background, currently grazing around 65 cow/calf pairs and I background my calves 60 days or so before selling them, keep my own heifers usually around 20% of the heifer crop. I've gotten really into rotational grazing/cover crops, etc. last several years so I don't feed a ton of hay either. My herds average last year i fed hay for around 70-80 days total for the year with grazing rye, cornstalks and stockpiled grass. So we're talking only around 160 full 5x6 round bales. My general rule is I don't bale anything if it has/can have a fence put around it efficiently so mainly bale a lot of waterways, field edges and small little patches around the neighborhood.

Anybody take the plunge and sell their hay equipment?
