Iowa | Dear AgTalk Administrators,
Everyone knows that a farmer's (as well as a mother's) work is never done. That being said, one of the reasons you gave in making the Boiler Room invite-only and closed off to the rest of the patrons of this site was the upcoming harvest season and the amount of time needed away from monitoring the forums. However, now that the cold recesses of winter are setting in, and there isn't as much work to be done than there was a number of months ago, would it be too much to ask to have the Boiler Room opened back up to the general public? I am not only writing this because I feel "left out" of the BR, as I am certainly not the only one who feels this way. But a general characteristic of a healthy republic is an open forum for people to express their views about politics and the ways of the world. Although the internet is a poor way to have an "open forum", it works well because so many of the AgTalk patrons live across the country and across international borders. If the Boiler Room becomes as "cesspool" as it was referred to again, I would have no problem with keeping it closed off for good. Making it an invite-only forum was a well-heeded warning to all of us, and I think that, if reopened, the Boiler Room would be a much more civil place to discuss current happenings. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read this letter, and I hope to see the Boiler Room back in action soon. Sincerely, jcwitte
