Bonanza, Or | The other night our 7th grade daughter brought home a permission slip from school to either remain in the classroom or go to the library during the aids education in health class. I have real mixed emotions on this, kids have to know what is out there but the teaching handbook which I have read through is pretty descriptive for a 7th grader in my opinion. It turns out that if the student doesn't participate in the class room and goes to the library they still get the material but study it on their own, either at school or at home. The public school is required by Oregon law to teach this class.
We selected the library option since we feel that it is the parents responsibility to talk to their children about issues like this.
Any other parents out there having to make the same decision?
