disappoint steak supper at a restaurant last night. I ordered a New York strip steak 16 oz. Medium rare, close to rare. It was chewy, cool to cold in the middle. They offered to lower the bill, to cook it some more or do another one. I can't complain about the offers I rejected but the steak should have been good in the first place. Cooking it more wouldn't help. I'd already chewed my way through ½ of it so I didn't need another. I did get the steak to lowering the bill didn't seem appropriate. Any steak I grill is 135° and has red juice (myoglobin) running on the plate. This one didn't, I feel they just seared the outside and called it good. My last New York strip state I made in our air fryer was tender, a significant improvement over sirloin. Don't go to a steakhouse on Tuesday night? |
