SW Michigan | So, we needed a different side by side last spring, ( and yes, I have a Jeep), so against my better judgement,(mostly based on what I read on Agtalk), I ordered a new Ranger 570 Fullsize because it was the only machine locally available at the time.
I thought I'd get a new one so I'd have a warranty. (Oh, right)
We picked it up the last day of June 2022 and have used it every day, (except when it is down) since.
We have about 4000 miles/440 hrs on it now.
Reverse gear went out in November, Polaris refused warranty, said we "abused" it.
$1200 out of pocket.
Dealer's service guy says,"there's mud where there shouldn't be"....
It misses/backfires every time it gets muddy, (which we have had an awfully muddy winter here), and now the baffles on the muffler are blown out. I loaded it, drove an hour to the dealer, only to have it run perfectly when we unloaded it.
Last week I looked into the rattling and clunking that was going on, and discovered all 4 wheel bearing were bad, all the brake pads were completely shot, and the front greasable suspension bushings are rattling. Also the right front driveshaft is rattling in the differential.
I replaced all that myself, and when those noises went away, we immediately discovered the propeller shaft splines are shot, and possibly the u-joints.
So, my question is, are we abusing it?
Do you guys use your UTV's every day, picking up calves, checking the dry cows/heifers, checking fences, rounding up cows, string trimming, feeding at the other farm, etc, etc.?
We've had 6 other UTV's over the years and never replaced a reverse gear. They all have had their issues, but this seems a bit much.
My neighbor has a Ranger, hauls his grandkids around, goes up north once a year with it, maybe that's what Polaris intends you to do with them.
My mistake.
