Subject: Disappointed with Challenger MT765 demo (pics)

Bow Island, Alberta
My brother demoed a used (4300 hrs) Challenger MT765 last Saturday. He first tried it on a potato hiller/ripper. He had been pulling it with his 8410 (6000 hrs), with almost wore out 380R50 on the insides and 20.8R42 on the outsides. He was pretty disappointed that the yellow tractor didn't pull it any better than the green one, especially considering the tires.

We then tried on a chisel plow that I was pulling with my 8410T. We drove the tractors side by side to be sure that the speeds were comparable. Pulled the chisel plow exactly the same. Both tractors had almost new 16" Camoplast tracks.

Of coarse, the yellow tractor rode much better on the road, and over some rough areas of the field. The cab was slightly quieter, but also smaller. The yellow tracor turned much better with a load but that was likely due to the fact that the tracks were at 144" instead of 76".

Do you think there was something wrong with the Challenger. We were watching the engine load readout, and it was usually 95-100%. Or are our JD's cranked up to more than they are rated for?
