NC Iowa | i asked this once before, but maybe will get different perpective. i am enroled in the va health care system. i am priorty group 7, so i have copays, but they are reasonable. $15/visit for a primary care clinician, and $50/visit for a specialist. for inpatient care, it is $220 for up to 90 days care. it could still add up if i was seen by several specialists a day. i now use the va for all tests, labs, screenings, semi physical, prescriptions, ect.
i have a high deductiable hsa insurance through farm bureau. this is mainly so i would have a choice in care if i needed something special like heart bypass, ect. as the needed specialists may not be located anywhere near me. it would also pay my va charges when i reached my deductiable. although my experience with the va has been very good, i also wonder if the specialists are as skilled as can be found in the private sector.
i am also wondering if coverage in the va system would qualify as coverage under 'obama care', and i could drop my farm bureau insurance when o.c. kicks in. (assuming it does). lots of unknowns in health insurance right now for me.
thanks,
