IL. | ok here's the deal, about burned my house down a few weeks ago, the heat tape I had wrapped around my water line under my house shorted out and caught the insulation on fire! it melted the plastic water pipe and put the fire out! got lucky there, but I need to protect this pipe somehow, wife is worried about putting heat tape on again, now this tape was on for almost 20 yrs. and yea I should have replaced it but out of site out of mind, plus it was supposed to only activate when it was cold enough, was wondering if anyone has any ideas, I wrap it with instulation but feel it needs a little more. any and all ideas are appreciated.
