Subject: attended east indian celebration last night

deep SW On.
-wife works in OR and we where invited too a party at one of the drs. places too celebrate (i think) Indian new year and festival of lights(candles?).......90% east indians there and rest was us WASPS,,we didn't know what too expect but they where the most gracious hosts ,good wines, feast of food, fireworks and fellowship...when checking into motels-hotels I have had some pretty rude thoughts about other nationalities but being in there home with there family, other kids and friends I was totally impressed...real culture change for me in 60 yrs. as attended a 1 room school with always less than 30 kids in 8 grades and unless your family was there for 100 years you where an "outsider"...I don't really like change but I do see hope in the little kids of to-day being able too grow up and work with everyone for a better to-morrow
