Eastern SD
Im always struck by the lack of shelter belts in southwest Minnesota. The only trees are around building sites. Why is this? Here in eastern SD we have a lot of tree lines that run a half mile or more. Typically 3-4 rows wide. Many were planted in the 30s or 40s to stop the dirt from blowing away. Was that not a problem in Minnesota? Or have the tree lines all been pulled out? Just a curiousity
