Subject: Planter and math experts help me out

perryton, tx
2 part question: do the GPS hockey puck style sensors used as a planter speed source need to be calibrated? I’m using one on my 1770 NT VRD as the speed source for a 2630 controller. The reason I ask is the old white one I have from Ag Express quit working so I ordered another one although what I found on their website is called a Micro Trak Astro II made by Garmin. When my hired hand finished the 1st field after the swap I saw that the acres planted on the 2630 were about 20’% low. Upon further investigation I see that the GPS speed reading is 20% lower than the tractor reading. So I assume that my seeding rate would be off 20% too but I’m not sure if over or under the target. Any input appreciated.
