Subject: Permanent water line

Faunsdale, AL
Replacing a 70+ year old 1” galvanized steel pipeline soon. We do not get deposits or serious corrosion inside galvanized pipe but do get exterior corrosion in some types of clays or under red clay roads etc.

Anyway I need to replace 1800’ and will be trenching it in. I own the trencher and do not own a plow. What is permanent in the same class as what I’m replacing?

We used some black plastic roll pipe 50 years ago and soon abandoned it and replaced with pvc. Is there any poly pipe that’s good enough to be considered permanent?

This line operates at 80 psi max because of the elevation change from pump to house and rest of water system.

What should I consider?
